The 40th annual World Economic Forum took place on January 27-31, 2010, in Davos, Switzerland. Meeting under the theme of “Improve the State of the World: Rethink, Redesign, Rebuild”, this year’s forum was a call to advance solutions to the most critical challenges facing the world.”

Accenture and NetHope Launch First IT Help Desk for International Non-Government Organizations
Accenture and NetHope, with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, have launched the first global information technology (IT) help desk for international non-government organizations (NGOs). The help desk, is currently staffed by NGO employees and Accenture employees working with Accenture Development Partnerships.

Accenture global photography competition bridges culture, experience and geography
Accenture people deliver high performance to their clients and achieve outstanding results by bringing their own unique perspectives to a situation. Those different views are evident in the photos submitted to the recent photography competition were nothing short of stunning. From across the globe, more than 8,000 images were submitted in six categories.

Accenture people make “40,000 carbon tons” of impact with Eco Challenge
From June 5 to August 31, 32,100 people took the Accenture Employee Eco Challenge. That accounts for 19 percent of Accenture’s workforce who collectively pledged to reduce their carbon footprint by more than 40,000 tons. These pledges amount to the same amount of carbon emitted by taking 28,000 flights between London and New York.

Accenture’s spirit of flexibility brings Working Mother’s “100 best” recognition
Accenture’s working mothers know that they are regarded as a strength of the company—reflected in the example of high performance they set both on the job and caring for their families. Working Mother magazine knows it, too, naming Accenture to its “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” list for the seventh year in a row.

Accenture Selected to Design Smart Meter System Infrastructure for ComEd Pilot Program
ComEd, a unit of Exelon Corporation, has chosen Accenture to design and deploy the data management system for its proposed Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) pilot. The pilot, if approved by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), will assess how advanced technology can improve service reliability, help customers make smarter decisions about energy use and contribute to lower energy costs and reduced carbon emissions.

Accenture Named Top Outsourcing Provider by International Association of Outsourcing Professionals
Accenture has been ranked No. 1 on the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals’ (IAOP) Global Outsourcing 100 list, marking the second consecutive year that Accenture has topped this ranking of the world’s best outsourcing providers.

It’s a top-50 finish for Accenture on 'Fortune' magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” list
For the first time, Accenture has cracked the top 50 on Fortune magazine’s 2009 “World’s Most Admired Companies” list—and ranks #2 in the newly-expanded Infotech Services category. “Breaking into the top 50 is a terrific accomplishment for Accenture, and we are incredibly proud of the deep, differentiated skills that our people bring to our clients every day,” Chairman & CEO Bill Green said. “This ranking reflects our people’s commitment and contribution to delivering high performance—in our work with clients and also in how we run our business.”
