Initially called Andersen Consulting, Accenture was formally established in 1989 in the United Sates. A group of partners from the Consulting division of the various Arthur Andersen firms around the world formed a new organization focused on consulting and technology services related to managing large-scale systems integration and enhancing business processes.
But the roots of Accenture lie in 1953 when the first computer for General Electric was installed by consultants of Arthur Andersen.
By 2000, Accenture had achieved more than a decade of tremendous growth and in 2001 the company received its new brand name–Accenture. The name was proposed by one of the Norway office’s employees, who came up with Accenture by thinking of “accent on the future.”
Since 1992, Accenture’s Moscow office has been helping companies in the Russian market achieve high performance. In 2007, a second office was opened in Tver.
