And how are we organized? Our application developers are involved in real, hands-on technical work. They build and test business software applications. They break down the business processes and functional requirements into components, and then build an application that links the components together.

Application specialists take responsibility for deploying completed code packages, watching over them as they are rolled out to users and taking charge of upgrades, small and large change requests (development work), and new releases. They deal with long-term service reliability, fault detection and isolation.

Systems analysts define the technical requirements for each job. They do high-level specs, lead teams of programmers, and take responsibility for the build process.
